The Department of Education (DepEd) Philippines, in collaboration with GIZ, UNICEF, and Save the Children, celebrated Menstrual Hygiene (MH) Day 2022 by pledging their commitment of support to menstrual health and hygiene. Several posts were released on social media from May 23-27, 2022 to raise awareness on MHM as part of the MH Day celebration which include the menstruation bracelet campaign, videos on menstruation and adolescent health, and commitment of DepEd and its partners on MHM. The social media posts generated a total reach of 624,563.
To close the week-long celebration of MH Day 2022, a webinar entitled “Advancing Menstrual Hygiene Management in the Philippines” was conducted on May 27, 2022. The webinar tackled (1) WinS MHM 2020/21 Monitoring Results, (2) Kwenturuan: MHM curriculum integration and OKY App for menstruation, (3) Making schools menstruation friendly, and (4) Role of students on MHM in schools. The event was broadcasted live through the Oplan sa Kalusugan (OK) sa DepEd Facebook Page and had a wide set of viewers which included teachers, learners, WinS Coordinators, parents, and general public. The broadcast reached a total audience of 185,166 viewers. The webinar can be viewed at OK sa DepEd facebook page.
