The GIZ-Fit for School Program showcased the achievements of the School Health Component for the past six years during the BEAM-ARMM Education Forum and Closing Program at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex, Cotabato City on 23 May 2017.
Presentations on best practices, lessons learned and recommendations to DepEd-ARMM were made on the following themes: Quality (EHCP Implementation, by Katherine Pizzacalla, GIZ Senior Advisor, and Maricar Wahab, Maguindanao II Division EHCP Coordinator); Access (Community Led Sanitation, by Arman Balonkita, GIZ Senior Advisor, and Alsid Pakkam, DepEd ARMM Technical Assistant); and Governance (Transparency Boards, by Peter Hauschnik, GIZ Principal Advisor and Ma. Felynore Sinsuat, Principal of Camp Siongco Elementary School).
Several knowledge products and innovations developed were also displayed at the Show and Tell session, where the guests and participants had a chance to use the group handwashing facility, got copies of printed materials, and share ideas on topics concerning WASH in schools.
During the ceremonies, Counsellor Kerry Anderson from the Australian Embassy recognized the unwavering commitment of the stakeholders for the successful implementation of the BEAM-ARMM Program.
BEAM-ARMM is designed to improve the learning competencies of teachers and learning outcomes of schoolchildren in this part of the country. In the long run, the program is hoped to contribute to the alleviation of poverty and the emergence of peace through closely targetted investments in basic education and skills training of out-of-school youth. The program is implemented with funding support from the Australian Government.
